How to play back the music you
copied from the MS dash with media player!
Rip a CD to the hdd with the MS Dash
(run the MS Dash, go into music, stick in
your CD and select copy)
Now what you need to know is m$
(Microsoft) dumps your music files in a folder on the E drive location:
e:\tdata\fffe0000\music\ in a format known as WMA (I think
that's short for windows media audio)
So now simply run media player from the
applications menu, select " my music"
browse to the folder list above to find
the WMA files and your now in business!
If you get lost browsing note that the A
button takes you into a folder and the B button moves you back out.
Use your back to get back to the main
menu of the media layer program
Using
xcommander to move files around!
so you've filled your 5gig E
drive partition with music (or whateva), but you've still got ooodles of
space on your F drive.
well lets move it over!
first run x commander from your system
utilities menu, now the basic tools to becoming a x commander king are
just a few small tips away...
- use the left and right triggers
to jump between the left and right boxes
so pull the left trigger and hop to the
left side
- use the Y but to go up a level
(out of a folder)
so press Y a couple of times till you see
all the drives partitions listed (c c e f x y z )
- use the A button to go into a
folder ( or dir as they were once known)
so select the E drive press A, select 'tdata',
press A, select 'fffe0000', press A, select 'music', press A (by now you
should get the idea)
now before we move it we will make a
folder (or directory) on the F drive to move it into
so pull the right trigger to hop back to
the right window, now select the f drive.
- use the start button to bring up
the file operations box
so now press your start button and you
can do numerous things one of which is 'create a directory'
press your a button on this and you will
be presented with a alpha num pad to type out the name of the dir.
type out something like 'music' or
whatever so you will remember what's in it, hit done and a dir is
created
now go into that dir and hop back to the
left side
now inside the music folder you may have
numerous folders which are all the albums you have ripped
go inside one and we will select all the
wma files
- use the B button to select
multiple files
select all the files in by pressing the B
button (the will be highlighted blue)
now to copy the over to the F drive
simply bring up the file operation box, select copy
the selected file will now be copied to
the destination you have selected in the right hand side (hopefully your
music dir)
ok now instead of just deleting the files
with x commander from E to get your space back, I would now return to
the m$ dash
and delete the sound track from there (it
will tidy up the ms dash and prevent any errors) because they were
ripped with the m$ dash.
if your not sure what tracks they are go
and run them from media player to find out.
once you have identified them you can use
your new found x commander skills to go and rename them in English :)
(there's a rename option in the file
operation box in xcommander)
OK how do I make a CD readable by
xcommander now that I'm an
X Commander king!
go to
http://www.xbox-scene.com/tools/tools.php?page=isotools
get an xiso making tool of which there are many.....
make your xiso with the tool (select the dir you want to be the root of
the
cd).
then take that iso and burn it with a program that will burn a ready
made iso
image (the xiso you just made) like nero ( file, burn image)
some new burning programs (like the latest nero) support making a udf
disc
(basically a xiso) , these should read in xcommander and
don't require you make he iso before burning.
now you just have to get it to read in your box (hope you dont have a
thomson
:þ )
How do I get the psx emulator to do
something?
the psx emulator runs bin/cue files made by cdrwin
get cdrwin and make a bin/cue file of your game.
now we need to get those file either onto your xbox hard disk or onto a
udf
disc ( see tip above on how to make a udf disc)
you can ftp the bin/cue file to the 'roms' folder e:\emu\psx\psxcds or
make a disc in xiso/udf format with the bin cue files on it,
so it can be read by your xbox.
if you make a disc with the files on it use the right thumbstick button
to
access it when in the psx emu!
more tips to come.....so stay tuned
